Contribution Deadlines for IRAs
The Contribution Deadlines for IRAs refer to the specific dates by which individuals must make contributions to their Individual Retirement Accounts (IRAs) in order for the contributions to be applied to a particular tax year.
For traditional and Roth IRAs, the contribution deadline is typically April 15 of the following year, coinciding with the federal income tax filing deadline. For example, contributions for the tax year 2023 must be made by April 15, 2024.
It’s important to note that if the deadline falls on a weekend or holiday, the deadline is extended to the next business day. Additionally, for certain types of contributions, such as those to SEP IRAs, the deadline may differ based on the business’s tax filing status.
