Qualified Opportunity Zone

A Qualified Opportunity Zone (QOZ) is a designated urban or rural area in the United States that has been identified as economically distressed and eligible for special tax incentives under the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017.

Investors who invest in these zones through Qualified Opportunity Funds (QOFs) can benefit from tax deferrals on capital gains, as well as potential reductions in tax liability over time. Specifically, if the investment is held for at least ten years, investors may also be able to exclude any additional gains from the investment in the QOF from federal taxes. This program aims to promote economic development and job creation in underserved communities.
