Taxpayer Advocate Service (TAS)

The Taxpayer Advocate Service (TAS) is an independent organization within the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) that provides assistance to taxpayers facing challenges with the IRS. It aims to ensure that taxpayers are treated fairly and have their rights protected. TAS offers help with resolving tax-related issues, such as delays in processing returns, difficulties in communication with the IRS, and other problems that may arise in tax matters.

TAS also plays a role in identifying systemic issues affecting taxpayers and advocates for changes to improve the IRS processes. Taxpayers can contact TAS if they believe they are experiencing significant hardship due to IRS actions or if they need help navigating complex tax issues.
