Filing Deadline: The last date by which a taxpayer must submit their tax return or other required documents to the appropriate tax authority. Missing this deadline can result in penalties, interest on unpaid taxes, or disallowance of deductions.
In the United States, for individual income tax returns, the typical filing deadline is April 15 of the following year, though it may vary if it falls on a weekend or holiday. Extensions can be requested, allowing for additional time to file; however, any taxes owed must still be paid by the original deadline to avoid penalties.
